Beyond solar

The rest of the consumer unit, covered too.

A solar or battery install already means opening up your consumer unit, so we cover the general electrical work around it as well: fuse box replacement, rewires, EV chargers, EICR inspections, PAT testing and fault-finding, for Deal, Walmer, Kingsdown and the CT14 villages.

Consumer unit & fuse box replacement

From £600 fitted: new metal-clad unit with RCBOs per circuit, labour, a full EICR and an installation certificate. Older wiring needing remedial work as well is quoted separately, always in writing first.

Home rewires

Full and partial rewires, room by room so the essentials stay running. Two-bed terrace: 5-7 working days. Three-bed semi: 7-10 days. Too house-specific for a headline price, every rewire gets a fixed written quote after a free walkaround.

EV charger installation

From £850 fitted. Pairs naturally with a solar or battery system so you can route your own generation into the car instead of buying it back at peak rates. We handle the circuit and any DNO notification.

Deal specifics

Conservation areas and older wiring

Deal and Walmer sit across seven conservation areas: Middle Street, Upper Deal, South Barracks, Nelson Street, Upper Walmer and Kingsdown. None of that changes what's inside the wall, and older seafront and town-centre properties here are exactly the kind that still turn up rewireable fuse boxes or round-pin sockets on an EICR. The conservation-area point only really bites on visible external additions, like an EV charger on a street-facing wall, which we flag and check before quoting rather than after.

EICR inspections

From £140 for a standard three-bed home. The definitive check on a property's wiring, and what landlords and buyers need before anything else gets quoted. HMOs, larger homes or industrial boards are quoted individually.

PAT testing

From £75 for up to 15 items at one address, useful for the seasonal lets around Kingsdown and Walmer beach as much as ordinary rentals. Above 15 items, tell us a rough count and we'll quote the visit in advance.

Fault-finding & call-out

£95 covers the call-out and first hour on site, whether that's diagnosis, quoting, PAT testing or an EICR. £60 an hour after that, not a separate per-hour charge stacked on top.

FAQs

Can you fit an EV charger on a house in one of Deal's conservation areas?

Usually yes. A wall-mounted charger on a rear or side elevation not fronting the highway is normally fine even inside Middle Street, Upper Deal, South Barracks, Nelson Street, Upper Walmer or Kingsdown conservation areas. A charger on a front elevation facing the street sometimes needs planning consent, more so if the property is listed. We check before quoting.

How much does a consumer unit replacement cost?

From £600 fitted, including the new unit, labour, a full EICR and an installation certificate. Older properties needing extra remedial work are quoted separately in writing before we start.

Do you do this alongside solar work or as a separate job?

Either. A lot of our electrical callouts start as part of a solar or battery quote once we're already looking at the consumer unit, but we take standalone electrical jobs too, no solar install required.
